This model K-715 porcelain enameled alcove bathtub with left hand drain was manufactured by Kohler. The basin measures 56"(L) x 24"(W) x 13"(H) and features integral grip on the bottom to prevent falls. On the left side of the tub (if viewing from the apron side) a 2 1/8" drain hole is bored into the bottom of the basin. A 2 3/4" hole is bored in the wall above the drain for plumbing. This new old stock tub is in excellent condition and was still in the original crating when salvaged.
This bathtub was salvaged from Cascades Inn in Healing Springs, Virginia. This historic inn was comprised of a hotel built in 1850, with various renovations taking place in the early 1900's, and a motel built around the 1950's. During the civil war, the hotel was used as a hospital for sick soldiers. The Inn was also used as a storage location for various fixtures such as furniture and plumbing from the nearby Homestead resort. The Cascades Inn and items from it are featured on Season 11, Episode 10, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
