Description

This beautiful cast iron firebox surround and summer cover screen was salvaged from a circa 1885 Italianate style house in Barnesville, Ohio. The cover features intricate, quatrefoil perforations with a double frame of repeated pierced oblong shapes decorated with single knuckle spindles.

Condition: Very good condition.The set shows surface rust and some pitting, as well as paint loss and scuffs as expected with age and use. The surround was once mounted to a slate mantel with mounting tabs that project from the rear of the surround. Some modifications may be needed to attach to a non-masonry mantel.

Salvage History: This set was salvaged from a circa 1885 Italianate style house in Barnesville, Ohio. The surround was featured on Season 10, Episode 5, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
