Description

Terracotta chimney pot coated in chipped and flaking white paint of white paint showing a green layer and natural color of the clay below. This chimney pot has a 7" circular opening at the top, a 10 1/4" x 9 3/4" rectangular opening on the bottom, and a footprint measuring 12" x 11 3/4". This chimney pot is in good salvaged condition with signs of weathering and chips along the bottom edges of the piece. A piece has chipped from one corner of the base. This chimney pot was salvaged from Cascades Inn in Healing Springs, Virginia. This historic inn was comprised of a hotel built in 1850, with various renovations taking place in the early 1900's, and a motel built around the 1950's. During the civil war, the hotel was used as a hospital for sick soldiers. The Inn was also used as a storage location for various fixtures such as furniture and plumbing from the nearby Homestead resort. The Cascades Inn and items from it are featured on Season 11, Episode 10, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs". Weight: 64 lbs.
