Chimney pots were used when people burned coal to heat their homes. Attached by mortar at the top of a chimney, this was an inexpensive way to extend the chimney height from the house and increase air draw, reducing the amount of fumes that entered into the home. Today, these vintage pots make beautiful garden decor!
