The ironwood pallets were once used in the firing stage of brick making. When making bricks, the pallets are first soaked in water to prevent catching fire in the kiln. Raw, molded clay bricks are then staged upon the pallets and sent through the kiln to be dried. The wood was cleaned of brick dust before making these chairs, then covered them in a satin poly finish when complete.
