Description
Industrial aluminum sconce with aluminum cage. This light was manufactured by Crouse Hinds in Syracuse N.Y. The cage includes a shield for maximizing and directing the output of light.
Dimensions: 15"H x 6"D x10"W. Weight: 5 lbs.
Condition: Has some caked on dirt and considerable rust on shields. This piece does NOT have a globe or lightbulb. Wires are cut.
History: The Crouse-Hinds Electric Company, a manufacturer of high grade electrical specialties, was established in 1897 in Syracuse, New York. Later, they shortened the company name to "Crouse-Hinds Company" and in the early 1920s specialized in the manufacture of traffic signals, controllers and accessories. This sconce was salvaged from a locomotive repair and maintenance facility in Clifton Forge, Virginia. This salvage job was featured on the DIY Network show "Salvage Dawgs", Season 8 Episode 11.
