Oak Baptismal Font on Casters

Oak Baptismal Font with lid on casters. Evenly spaced vertical wooden rods surround the simple square base of this lovely font. Sitting on recessed casters extending 1" from the base, this piece has a rich brown stain highlighting the beautiful grain of the oak. An 18" x 18" lid with a cross shaped handle projecting 6 ¾" from the top surface rests snugly on the slightly recessed top platform. The underside of the lid has a thick coat of clear gloss marine finish to protect the wood from water damage. Unfortunately, the basin was not present upon acquiring this piece, but a replacement is obtainable. The hole for the basin is 8 ¾" in diameter with a shallow ¼" wide rabbet surrounding it. This piece is in good condition with minor scuffs and scratches in the finish. Salvaged from the circa 1964 Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria, Virginia, this font and other items from this church are featured on Season 10, Episode 4, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs". Weight: 91 lbs. Item Measurements: 21(L) x 21(W) x 39.25(H)
