Description

Ornate wooden 6 panel door with painted composite appliques on both sides.
Finish: Off-white paint on one side, off-white with green tint on the other. Hardware: Pair of brass rosettes, a pair of covered brass key escutcheons, and a brass mortise lock. Knobs and hinges are not included.
This door is in good salvaged condition with minor flaws such as dents, dings, and scratched and scuffed finish in areas on the door and appliques. The applique on the green tinted side of the door has been heavily damaged. A piece of trim has been replaced along the bottom of the center right panel of the off-white side, below which, a small piece of wood has splintered from the edge of the rail.
This door was salvaged from the Kean Estate, a 17,000 square-foot mansion sat atop the highest point in Livingston, New Jersey. This Georgian style stone mansion was the original home of 10-term U.S. Congressman Robert W. Kean, father of former Governor Thomas Kean. This sprawling residence features 14 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 15 fireplaces. The Kean Estate, and items from it, is featured on Episode 6, Season 11, of the DIY Network Show, "Salvage Dawgs".
