Description
This massive, granite block, or Surface Plate, comes with an adjustable, industrial stand. It was manufactured by Rock of Ages, a quarry in Barre, Vermont. The smooth granite block has the original manufacturer's label, reading "Rock of Ages, Surface Plate, Barre, Vermont". According to the Rock of Ages site, "Feel confident in your decision to use Rock of Ages knowing our surface plates meet or exceed Federal Specification GGG-P-463c...".
Condition: Good for age and use in an industrial setting. Granite surface is in good condition, showing scuffs, scratches, and minimal chips. Legs show paint loss and some oxidation.
History: The block was salvaged from a facility in Nelson County, Virginia as featured on the DIY Network show "Salvage Dawgs", Season 2, Episode 11.
