Description

This 5.5' earthenware tub features 3-sides, a comfortable slipper shape and rolled edges. The earthenware bottom-fill tub was manufactured by Crane. This tub has a glazed, finished, back and outer sides, with the front unfinished for mounting against a wall, allowing access to each side and back. The interior of the basin measures 63"(L) x 24"(W) x 14 7/8"(H) and has a small 2 1/4" diameter opening towards the front, and a 3 3/4" diameter opening in the center, both on the bottom of the basin and formerly used for an inlet and drain. Condition: This tub is in fair condition with scuffing and scratching throughout the glaze, with the most significant present along the bottom edges of the exterior and outer edges of the rim. The exterior of the tub, and front of the basin have significant rust staining throughout, likely removable with scrubbing with rust stain remover. History: This bathtub was salvaged from Cascades Inn in Healing Springs, Virginia. This historic inn was comprised of a hotel built in 1850, with various renovations taking place in the early 1900's, and a motel built around the 1950's. During the civil war, the hotel was used as a hospital for sick soldiers. The Inn was also used as a storage location for various fixtures such as furniture and plumbing from the nearby Homestead resort. The Cascades Inn and items from it are featured on Season 11, Episode 10, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs". Weight: 400 lbs. Measurements: 67.25(L) x 27.88(W) x 16(H)
