Description

This stunning Victorian wooden double window unit was salvaged from a storefront in Lexington, Virginia. The window is 97" tall and features a beautiful segmented arched top rail. This lovely surround is a perfect feature to spruce up any façade!
The exterior casing, or surround, has a modest appearance, with an arched header adorned with a decorative wooden keystone featuring a bullseye rosette with crown detailing along the top. Below the exterior sill is a single horizontal recessed panel.

This unit is comprised of 2 wooden sashes, the lower of which is rectangular, measuring 33 ¼"(W) x 37 ¼"(H), the upper sash is also rectangular, measuring 33 ¼"(W) x 38"(H), with the top rail and glass forming a segmented arch.

The exterior is painted 3 different colors; the outer molding is dark green, the jamb and sash are painted a light gray with a subtle hint of green, and the recessed panel is a pale-yellow or cream color.
The interior side is rough and unfinished, with exposed 2 x 4 framing. The sashes, sill, and jamb are painted white.

Measurements:
This unit will require a minimum 9 ¾"(D) x 37 ½"(W) x 92"(H) opening for installation.
Glass: Lower= 30"(W) x 34 ¾"(H), Upper (arched top)= 30"(W) x 36"(H)

Weight: 171 lbs.
Overall Measurements: 40.5(L) x 13(W) x 97(H)

Condition: Good condition; 2 available. One has all glass intact, the other is missing the lower pane which has been replaced with plywood. The sashes are fixed in place with cove molding. The paint of the exterior shows signs of weathering and has split in areas and begun to chip. Some components may need refastening or reinforcing.

History: This surround was salvaged from the storefront of a building in downtown Lexington, Virginia, as the owner prepares to convert the space to a multi-use venue. This component and others from the façade they were removed from were not original to the building from which they were salvaged. Unfortunately, we are not aware of the provenance of these pieces. The salvage of this storefront and items from it are featured on Season 10, Episode 3, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".

Other Items: Matching pieces from the same storefront are available. A matching entryway, corbels, and storefront surround are available; see items ECORB1, EGREE4, and EGREE5 respectively.
