This 36 1/8" x 37 5/8" shoji window sash is comprised of an 8 light wooden sash coated in dark stain with a single piece of sturdy, slightly translucent, paper mounted to one side, made to resemble the traditional washi paper used in traditional Japanese shoji architecture. The muntins of the sash are only visible on one side, as the paper covers the entirety of the opposing side with exception of the rails and stiles. The lights of the center row of the sash measure 5 x 4 3/8", and are flanked on both sides by larger lights, measuring 13 1/8" x 4 3/8". This piece is in good condition with minor flawing, including discoloration to the finish of the wood and paper. This sash was salvaged from a Japanese steakhouse located in the Boulevard at the Cap Center shopping center in Largo, Maryland.
