Description

This cast-cast iron shutter dog was salvaged from a 1940 home in Martinsville, Virginia. The 6" x 4.25" fixture was manufactured by Sargent and features a grape bunch design.
The back of the piece reads "15 & 16 SARGENT, Made in USA". The mounting bracket consists of a through bolt held in place by a cotter pin that extends 3 3/4" from the back of the dog.

Condition: Excellent. Each shutter dog shows minimal surface scuffs to the dark gray paint. The back is unpainted and shows moderate surface rust due to exposure to the elements over a prolonged period.

History: This piece was salvaged from a house in Martinsville, Virginia, built in 1940 by architect William Roy Wallace. The house fell victim to an electrical fire and was condemned. As a result, the Dawgs were enlisted by the owners to tackle this sentimental job. This property and items from it are featured on Season 10, Episode 9, of the Diy Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".

Weight: 1 lbs.
Item Measurements: 3.19(L) x 4.25(W) x 6(H)
