Description

This is a vintage straddle sink, originally designed for the US Navy and Army during World War II. The patient would stand before the sink, with a leg on either side of the extension to cleanse and apply treatments to a private's privates.

The sink would have been installed upon a stand with a foot pedal to operate and control the temperature of the water.

History: The Standard Sanitary Mfg. Co. was the only company to manufacture this sink and restricted the sale primarily to the U.S. Army and Navy, Government, State and City Health Departments, Hospitals and Physicians in good standing.

Condition: Very good for age and use. Solid enameled cast iron body, shows surface scuffs and scratches as expected with age.

Measurements: 26" wide x 38" long.
