Winchester Virginia Barn Salvage, Studded Wooden Roller, Iron Axle, 24" long



This studded wooden roller was salvaged from an old apple barn in Winchester, Virginia. The 24 inch long roller has an interesting surface of 5 rows of studs on an iron axle. Each stud is carved and fastened to the roller with 2 nails. The roller has a pentagonal profile.

The roller shows an authentic, weathered and worn patina from regular agricultural use.

This roller is ready to be repurposed as an authentic agricultural element within a new piece, perhaps a lamp base!

Condition; Good for age and use. The axle has a coating of surface rust. Wood has a worn, weathered appearance.

The iron axle is pitted and has a coating of surface rust. Condition varies per piece; some studs may be missing.

History: This roller was salvaged from a barn destined for demolition in Winchester, Virginia. This barn contained many pieces of vintage orchard equipment. Items from this job are featured in Season 9, Episode 10, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
