Victorian Mantel with Over Mantel, 60.5"W x 80"H, 1920 VA Estate

This beautiful oak mantel features delicate, Victorian detail and a mirrored over mantel. The mantel was manufactured in 1920 by the Marsteller Company in Roanoke, Virginia. This piece features delicate designs, and an egg & dart trimmed beveled mirror (most likely the original mirror).

History of the mantel: The J.H. Marsteller Company was in operation in Roanoke, Virginia from 1887 until the mid-1920s. They specialized in manufacturing monuments, tombstones, and statuaries, as well as dealing locally-made hardwood mantels, tiles, and grates. Established in 1887, the office and salesroom was located at 21 East Campbell Avenue, in Roanoke, Virginia.
