YP 693 Bulwark Panel, 11'+



Pine bulwark panel salvaged from the YP 693, a training vessel used by the Naval Academy from 1987 to 2001. A bulwark is the section of a ship wall that extends above the main deck. This bulwark panel is composed of 5 tongue and groove boards of varying widths. One side is painted white with multiple black rubber strips running vertically across the panel where the boards were bolted to stanchions. The strips are now the only things holding the boards together. The opposing side has wooden cork-shaped plugs concealing the bolts used to fasten the panel to the stanchions. This side is coated in chipping white paint over a layer of blue-gray paint below. This panel was salvaged in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
