Description
This vintage, Passap-D knitting machine is a classic double-bed, single-gauge domestic knitting/weaving machine. The Passap-D features a finished wood body with all original parts and accessories in an embossed leather case.
The Passap D was designed using an open needle system, allowing ribbing to be knitted row by row with the pattern comb using two separate controls for the adjustment of stitch size and tension.

History: The first handknitting machine made its debut in 1939 on the occasion of the Swiss National Exhibition, constructed by Ernst Luchsinger. Luchsinger sold his handknitting machines under the brand name of PASSAP which is an abbreviation of PAtent Schnell Strick AParat, ("patented quick knitting apparatus"). The machines were made of wood with combs composed of zinc-plated steel.
