Description
Classic, enameled cast iron clawfoot bathtub, manufactured by S.S.M. Co. (Standard Sanitary Mfg. Co.) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from the late 1800s to 1920s. This beautiful freestanding tub features a comfortable rolled edge and traditional claw feet.
The base of the tub shows, "S.S.M.Co. Louisville Works, Standard, USA, 5-1/2". The mark designates that the 5.5-foot tub was made by S.S.M. Co. (Standard Sanitary Mfg. Co.), a top U.S. plumbing manufacturer from the late 1800s to 1920s. Known for durable cast iron tubs with enamel finish, Standard Sanitary was a predecessor to the American Standard Company.

Measurements: 65"L x 29"W x 16"H Condition: Glossy, enameled finish with surface scuffs and scratches as expected with age. One shallow, 1/2" shallow chip is present (not deep enough to expose the cast iron beneath/photographed). The exterior of the tub shows scuffs, oxidation, surface grime, and has been painted blue on 3 sides.
