Industrial Veneer Press, 15.75 " s 20.75", Lexington NC Furniture Plant

This is the concave component of a two-part veneer press. Stout wooden concave and convex presses used together with steam, mold wooden veneer into specific angles and curves desired in furniture making. This piece was salvaged from Lexington Furniture Industries Plant 1, or LFI 1, located in Lexington, North Carolina. Lexington Furniture is still in business today, and has consolidated the processes of the 1 million SF Plant 1, with Plant 2. LFI 1, formerly known as Dixie Furniture, has been in operation since 1901. The building will be selectively demolished and repurposed. LFI Plant 1 is featured on Season 8, Episode 2 of the DIY network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
