Description

Copper Weather Vane, "Mallard Pair" by John Garrett Thew of Norfolk, Connecticut.

John Garret Thew has been hand crafting his signature hammered-copper weathervanes since 1972 in Norfolk, Connecticut. Drawing on his early experience in sculpture and decorative metalwork, Thew uses plaster molds made from his own drawings, pours Hydrostone to form durable casting bases, and hammers sheets of copper into richly dimensional, full-bodied figures.
His work brings both functional weather-direction and sculptural artistry to barns, homes and storefronts alike. Over decades he has earned a loyal following for his distinctive designs, all brought to life with craftsmanship and imaginative flair.
