Description

Pair of 3 panel doors featuring quartersawn oak on one side, and off-white/tan finish with gilded composite appliques in each panel on the other side. Together, these doors measure roughly 49.25" wide. The door with the astragal has a brass mortise lock and a pair of gilded flush bolts. Brass rosettes and covered escutcheons are mounted to the painted sides of the doors while the unpainted side only has a rosette and escutcheon on the door with the astragal. Knobs are not included.
This set is in good salvaged condition with damage such as scratches to the finish, dents, dings, discolored and missing finish. One of the lower panels is cracked. Unfortunately, The oak has splintered or broken along the areas where the flush hinges are mounted.
This door set was salvaged from the Kean Estate, a 17,000 square-foot mansion sat atop the highest point in Livingston, New Jersey. This Georgian style stone mansion was the original home of 10-term U.S. Congressman Robert W. Kean, father of former Governor Thomas Kean. This sprawling residence features 14 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 15 fireplaces. The Kean Estate, and items from it, is featured on Episode 6, Season 11, of the DIY Network Show, "Salvage Dawgs".
