Description

This fantastic mid-century pew was salvaged from the sanctuary of a church in Greensboro, North Carolina. The open-ended pew is made of solid oak, with clean, mid-century lines and a rich, medium stain, highlighting the beautiful grain patterns of the wood. The inclined, open back and seat is fastened to thick tapered supports. Under the seat, 2 book racks are present, leaving the backs free of accessory.

When in place, the pews were bolted to the floor. Without this, the pews are unstable, so modification is necessary to make them freestanding. Please see items EOAKP2 for the benches that we have refurbished. Those have bases and do not need to be bolted down or supported.

Condition: Good condition. The width of each varies between 77"-78". Initially, these were part of a much longer pew, but were cut down to make more manageable. As a result, one end of each pew is raw and unfinished, while the opposing end is finished. The finished end is simple and flat, so the other end just needs sanding, stain and clearcoat. Seat Height: 17.25".

History: Salvaged from the circa 1964 Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria, Virginia, this pew and other items from this church are featured on Season 10, Episode 4, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
