Description
Authentic WWII US Naval Vessel No 5 Compass on stanchion by C.G. Conn. LTD.
Prior to removal, this would have been located on a wing of the boat by the helm or steering station.
From mid-1942 to 1945, C. G. Conn manufactured flat & mounted compasses, altimeters, gyro-horizon indicators, and other military instrumentation. The original manufacturer's information plate is present. All adjustment knobs are intact and appear to be functional.
Condition: Good condition with expected wear as expected with age and use. The compass retains the fluid, but may have minor leaks due to the condition of the seals. It appears functional but we cannot guarantee it will function as intended. We salvaged two compasses and condition will vary slightly per piece. The compass was acquired on an estate pick in Peterstown, West Virginia. Weight: 40 lbs.
Item Measurements-
Overall: 12(L) x 12(W) x 48(H)
Compass without stanchion: 4.5(L) x 8(W) x 5.5(H)
Compass face diameter: 4.5"
No mounting hardware included.
