Description

Pair of 3 panel doors with off-white finish on one side and tan finish on the other. Each panel features gilded composite appliques. Together, these doors measure roughly 49" wide. The door with the astragal a pair of gilded flush bolts. A brass mortise lock is mounted to the door without the astragal. Brass rosettes and covered escutcheons are mounted to the tan sides of the doors while the off-white side has rosettes and a single open escutcheon on the door without astragal. Knobs and hinges are not included.
This set is in good salvaged condition with damage such as scratches to the finish, dents, dings, discolored and missing finish. A large portion of the appliques in the lower panels of the off-white side of both doors are missing. A small section of the applique in the upper right panel of the tan side is missing a small piece along the bottom of the ornament.
This door set was salvaged from the Kean Estate, a 17,000 square-foot mansion sat atop the highest point in Livingston, New Jersey. This Georgian style stone mansion was the original home of 10-term U.S. Congressman Robert W. Kean, father of former Governor Thomas Kean. This sprawling residence features 14 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 15 fireplaces. The Kean Estate, and items from it, is featured on Episode 6, Season 11, of the DIY Network Show, "Salvage Dawgs".
