Description
The surround features turned posts, beautiful carved corbels, and diagonal beadboard paneling. Currently this surround is broken down to 14 pieces;
The upper box, the lower box, 4 posts, 2 pilasters, 4 large corbels, and 2 smaller corbels.
The awning-like upper box measures 18"(D) x 163"(W) x 50"(H) and has a sloped roof, half of which is covered in tin, 2 bead board panels on the face, and a single small panel on each side.
The lower box measures 18"(D) x 163"(W) x 27 ½"(H), with similar ornamentation to the upper box.
The charming turned posts measure 104 ¾"(H) with square ends that taper from 6 ½" at the base, to 4 ½" at the top. The pilasters are in the same style as the posts.
The 4 large carved Victorian corbels measuring 3 ½"(D) x 24 ½"(W) x 8"(H), and 2 smaller corbels, reflect the Victorian style of the unit.

History: This surround was salvaged from the storefront of a building in downtown Lexington, Virginia, as the owner prepares to convert the space to a multi-use venue. This component and others from the façade they were removed from were not original to the building from which they were salvaged. We are not aware of the provenance of these pieces. This storefront and items from it are featured on Season 10, Episode 3, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
