Description

Vintage glass float or buoy used by fishermen to keep nets afloat. The first country to produce and use glass fishing floats was Norway around 1840. The earliest floats were handblown and later, wooden molds were used to speed up the float-making process. As a result of this process, there are seams on the outside and sometimes knife markings where the molds were carved are visible. Many floats have wear patterns from the corrosive forces of sand, sun, and salt water.

While similar in the color of glass, each of these is unique due to its markings, bubbles, and "life experience." Your float or buoy will be a unique piece of history!
