Description

This fabulous midcentury open-ended pew is constructed of solid oak boards with rich brown stain, highlighting the beautiful grain patterns of the wood. The inclined open backrest and seat are fastened to thick tapered supports with sturdy iron flat-bar feet. Two book racks are present below the seat, leaving the backs free of accessory.
Prior to salvaging, this piece was part of a much longer pew that was fastened to the floor. In order to remove and make the pews more manageable for transport, they were cut into sections, leaving an unfinished edge on one side. Our shop has since modified and repaired the pews by finishing the raw edge and fabricating iron feet to level and stabilize the benches, making them freestanding without use of fasteners.
Condition: This handsome pew is in good condition, ready to spruce up your foyer, office, or dining room!
As is typical with salvaged furniture, some scuffing, scratches and wear may be present in the finish of the wood from use over an extended period of time.
Salvaged from the circa 1964 Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria, Virginia, this pew and other items from this church are featured on Season 10, Episode 4, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".
